We welcome exchange students with appropriate educational backgrounds who wish to attend one of our exchange programmes.

You must be a regular student at one of our international partner institutions. Learn more about the application process and other requirements to become an exchange student at EK below.

Application Process

Who can apply?

Students coming from our partner universities, who are nominated by their home university, can apply for an exchange semester at EK.

Please check with the International Office at your home university before applying.

It is up to your home university to assess your grades, professional and personal skills and to give you the application instructions.

How to apply?

If you are interested in becoming an exchange student at EK, you will have to follow the steps below:

Make sure you are nominated for a semester abroad at EK by your home institution. Contact the international office of your home institution to learn more about the nomination process.
Wait for an email with application instructions from EK. We usually send this to nominated students 1-2 weeks after the nomination deadline (please see deadlines below)
Follow the instructions provided in the email to apply.

Academic Calender and Deadlines

Semester dates

Autumn semester: mid-August – end-January
Spring semester: mid-January – end-June

The semester dates vary on the different semester packages. The exact start date of the semester will be written on the students’ acceptance letters.

EK will organize a Welcome event a few days before the start of the semester. The exact dates for the Welcome event will be written on the students’ acceptance letters.

Nomination deadlines for partner institutions

For the autumn semester: 15 April (same year)
For the spring semester: 15 October (previous year)

Application deadlines (for nominated students)

For the autumn semester: 1 May (same year)
For the spring semester: 1 November (previous year)

What are my study options?

Exchange students are enrolled into one of EK's semester that are taught in English or in one of our specially design exchange semesters. Find a list of exchange programmes.

Incoming exchange students do not have to choose the subjects themselves. Subjects are predefined for each semester and they are all mandatory. However, some semesters have an elective subject.

Make sure to check with your international office at your home university which programmes might be available for you.

Can I travel with ERASMUS+?

EK holds an extended ERASMUS+ Charter, so if your institution has a bilateral agreement with EK under the ERASMUS+ programme, you can contact the international office at your home institution and check your options.

The ERASMUS+ grant of incoming exchange students is administered by the sending home institution, not by EK. You will therefore have to ask your international coordinator at home about the procedures.
