If you want to protect organizations against cyber threats and strengthen digital resilience, Cyber Security Operations provides the practical skills to do so.

The course focuses on monitoring and operating secure IT systems, enabling you to prevent, detect, and handle minor security incidents. You will work with backup strategies, risk analysis, patch management, log and event analysis, and disaster recovery planning.

Combining technical expertise with an understanding of organizational needs, the course prepares you to assess risks, document incidents, and implement effective operational security measures aligned with current standards and evolving threat landscapes.

Taking an exchange semester in Cybersecurity

Exchange students are accepted into the 3rd semester of the Bachelor degree in Cybersecurity.

lt is required that students have completed at least 1 year of studies in a related field, such as computer science or IT security with a basic understanding of data security, automation and scripting.

Overview of the semester

During the semester at EK you have one mandatory course and the option to take an elective course as well. The description of the elective courses will be updated as soon as possible

Mandatory course: Cyber Security Operations (10 ECTS)

Cyber Security Operations (10 ECTS) is a mandatory course in the 3rd semester of the Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity. The course focuses on security monitoring systems and operational cybersecurity practices within organizations. Students work with backup strategies, risk analysis, patch management, DevOps culture, and the analysis and documentation of logs and incident data.

The course also covers disaster recovery planning and risk assessments based on current threat landscapes, as well as the handling of minor security incidents. Teaching is practice-oriented and combines theory with real-world cases from the IT industry.

Students develop skills in collecting and analyzing data, assessing security-related challenges, and communicating professional solutions. The course emphasizes independent responsibility, collaboration, and professional ethics. The examination consists of a combined written and individual oral exam, assessed according to the Danish 7-point grading scale.

In addition to attending lectures, it is very important that students work independently and with their groups on a daily basis throughout the semester.

This means that even if the fixed schedule of lectures appear light, students at EK are expected to dedicate around 40 hours per week of studying and working with their groups in order to be equipped for the exams.

Punctuality

At EK, and in Denmark in general, you are always expected to be on time for classes, advising sessions, meetings with your group, work, and social appointments.

We know punctuality varies a lot from one culture to another, and that is why we would like to emphasize the importance of this in Danish culture to our visiting exchange students as it can otherwise become a source of frustration in various social and study settings.

English proficiency requirements

At EK, students must prepare for each class by reading relevant literature, discussing it with their group or with the lecturers and writing projects already from the first weeks of the semester. This means you must be used to speaking, reading and writing English at a high level.

The minimum level of English accepted at EK is B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages corresponding to TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.0.

EK reserves the right to reject students whose English level is below this level.
